Come to Botton on the night before Christmas and you'll witness a very special tradition, as carollers brave the cold winter's night to sing their hearts out to their bovine friends.
'We sing to the cows to make their Christmas more interesting', explains Ben. 'Away in a Manger, O Christmas tree …' 'O Little Town of Bethlehem', adds Andrew.
'There's about 30 or 40 of us,' says Ben. 'We sing for half an hour at least.' Each neighbourhood holds their own recital with cows customarily only attending the performance nearest to them.
After the last note has echoed through the barns, everyone gets together for a special Christmas Eve supper. There's a strict humans-only policy for this, but the cows never seem to mind. Perhaps they're already full of the joys of Christmas.
