As the competitors prepared for day two of the Tour de Yorkshire, preparations of a different sort were underway at our Kingfisher Café in Malton.
With some 4,000 spectators expected to line the town’s streets, the Kingfisher team arrived at the café at 7am to get a head start on the day’s catering.
Catering for the crowds
By the time the crowds began to arrive, the team had set out a tempting stall of freshly made sausage rolls, slices of quiche and cakes, inside Norton library.
‘There was a huge buzz around town, everyone was so excited’, remembers Nicola.
Along with serving the public, it was a wonderful chance to soak up the party atmosphere – and of course to be there when the racers sped by.
‘We had lovely feedback about our food,’ says Nicola, ‘and it was also very nice to meet new people and show what we’re about.’
