This magical wintry scene was made by our friends at Camphill Larchfield and won second prize in the Middlesbrough, Love Where You Live Art Award.
‘We only found out about the competition a few days before it closed – so it was a bit of a rush and quite exciting,’ says Sarah, co-ordinator of the felt workshop. ‘Everyone got involved – some of us did the backgrounds, others did the fi ner embellishments. We even included our farmer’s dog in the picture and some of the sheep we have here at Larchfi eld, which we made out of their own wool.’
There was stiff competition, with over 10,000 entries. ‘We were all absolutely delighted to win,’ says Sarah. ‘Next we’re entering woollen fruit into the Wool Fest. We’ve hand-made apples, pears, leeks, rhubarb and pineapples. Let’s hope we’re lucky there too.’
