‘I ’m in the Malton & Norton Musical Theatre’, says Paul from The Croft Community, who has a fine singing voice.
‘I started in 1998, when I was in my first production of Dick Whittington. I went to see someone and they took me on in the chorus. It was a pantomime but we do musicals too. Last year in June it was Oliver Twist.’
In January, Paul had a great time performing in the group’s latest pantomime, Beauty and the Beast, at the Milton Rooms in Malton.
‘I was one of the chorus members’, he explains. ‘There were quite a lot of rehearsals, including Sundays. I worked on the songs at home as well.’
This dedication is one reason why, two years ago, Paul received an award – the ‘Fred Bower trophy’ – for his contribution to pantomime. Here’s to many more enjoyable shows and successes in the future!
