It's been a while since we brought you news from our Loch Arthur Camphill Community in Scotland.
'At this time of year the Café and Farm Shop are full of friends and neighbours socialising, browsing, and of course revelling in all the delights arriving daily from the community's Kitchen, Bakery and Creamery – from Christmas puddings and fruit mincemeat, to gorgeous biscuits, stollen and cheeses.'
'I can do that'
Sarah, Adam and Tom are three of the people behind it all. 'I work in the café, and the bakery', says Sarah. 'I live with my parents in Dumfries. I first came here when they had an Open Day. I said to my mum, “I can do that.”'
Sarah started by coming to Loch Arthur once a week and enjoyed it so much that she’s now here three days a week. 'I like it because we are all together and the jobs are all different', she says.
'It's great cheese'
'I love it here so much', agrees Adam. 'Scotland, it's got big mountains and haggis!
'I like the countryside and the places I'm working in. I work in the mornings in the Creamery. We make cheese and yogurt.'
'It's great cheese', adds Tom. Like Adam, he has made Loch Arthur his home. He works on the Farm as well as the Creamery, so he gets to see the organic milk go all the way from cow to award-winning cheese.
He's also seen how the number of people involved in the Creamery and the variety of products it makes has grown. 'We need to make the Creamery bigger', says Tom. 'Everyone who works here would appreciate it.' Watch this space...
