Welcome, Annabel

Since Annabel joined us as Fundraising Director, she’s been dividing her time between the fundraising base in Botton Village and getting to know all our nine different communities. Plus, she has a young family – and interests in gardening, reading and tennis-playing to keep up with.

But she’s never too busy to stop and say hello. ‘I am struck by how incredibly loyal and generous our friends are – The Camphill Family is so fortunate’, she says. ‘In the year ahead I’m looking forward to meeting some of you, and hearing what’s important to you. I really appreciate the time taken by those supporters who received a questionnaire with their Christmas newsletter to tell me about why you support Camphill Village Trust.’

First impressions
As a friend of The Camphill Family, when Annabel saw the post advertised she knew it was for an organisation she’d feel proud to join. Yet she’s still been amazed to see the quality of support provided.

‘Seeing all the activities has been inspirational. I really love all the crafts activities – and it’s been lovely to see some of the gardens and farms. I’ve enjoyed a few of the cafes, too, I have to say.

Empowering people

‘Regardless of which community you’re in, there’s the same sense of respect running through, the same Camphill values, which I’ve seen repeated in different ways but always there. The commitment to develop our services to ensure the people we support are empowered to have the best possible life, is very impressive.

‘That’s why I feel passionate about ensuring the long-term sustainability of Camphill Village Trust regardless of the changing environment in which we operate. Not only to ensure the resources needed to keep things running, but so that we’re able to do the “extras”, that are so important to the people we support.’

Telling more people about the fantastic work that takes place and giving our existing friends new ways to support people with learning disabilities will be an essential part of our future fundraising activities.
