A huge thank you to everyone who supported us in raising the money needed to rebuild Honey Bee Nest. The building work is well under way now and our resident photographer, Ben, has been keeping a photo diary to share the progress.
‘I’ve been taking photographs since I was 8 years old,’ he says. ‘And I was living in Honey Bee Nest before the work started, so it’s really interesting for me. They started by taking things out, like the old Aga. Now they’re building it up blending the old bricks in with the new ones. It’s rather exciting just to sit out there and watch.’
‘I’ve taken almost a thousand photos so far.’ Ben has a busy life helping to look after the cows and tend the gardens, as well as working in the seed workshop. But he hasn’t missed a moment of the transformation: ‘I take lots of photos of the outside and once a month the builders show me round inside too.’ Everyone is excited about stepping inside once Honey Bee Nest is lovingly restored. Ben is hoping to put all of the photos into a book. ‘On the one hand, I’m looking forward to seeing it finished,' he says. ‘On the other hand, I love taking the photos!’
